Fuel Surcharge Update March 11th, 2024

To our Valued Coastal Transportation Customers,

With the increase of petroleum price as well as market volatility, Coastal is announcing an increase to our fuel surcharge (FSC) from 27.5% to 26.00% effective Monday March 11th, 2024. We will continue to monitor fuel prices and adjust our Fuel Surcharge accordingly.

King Cove Update

Good day, Coastal Transportation Customers & Vendors,

Due to circumstances outside of our control, we have made the difficult decision to temporarily move King Cove service to a bi-weekly basis. This is expected to last through A-Season. We are also happy to call on King Cove during an “off” week on an inducement basis - large projects, bulk shipment, etc.

For the time being, please plan orders accordingly, and as always we appreciate your continued trust & support.

If you have any questions please contact our Traffic department at 800-544-2580 Option 1, or traffic@coastaltransportation.com.

January 2024 Sailing Update

Good day, Coastal Transportation Customers/Vendors,

We hope you had a safe and enjoyable holiday.

We wanted to send a quick reminder memo of our sailings this month as we go through the final lock closure this season.

Our next sailing is Friday, January 12th (Coastal Standard 68):

  • We will be receiving all freight at our normal terminal in Ballard from Tuesday, 1/2 through Thursday 1/11
  • FRZ and HAZ items should be delivered 2 days prior to sailing and CHL the day before sailing.

The Coastal Navigator 226 sailing on January 26th will be out of Seatac Marine Terminal and should be our final sailing out of that location this season.

  • All freight should be directed to deliver there from Tuesday 1/16 through Thursday 1/25
  • FRZ and HAZ items should be delivered 2 days prior to sailing and CHL the day before sailing.
  • Small packages via UPS, FedEx, Amazon, etc. should still be sent to our normal terminal in Ballard.

After Friday 1/26 all freight should be delivered to our Ballard terminal. Weekly sailings will resume starting with our February 9th sailing.

We would like to THANK all of you for your continued trust and support with the Ballard Locks closure this season. We know going back and forth between locations was confusing at times but we appreciate your understanding and cooperation to make it as smooth as possible.

We look forward to what 2024 will bring.

Happy New Year!
